Former UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, responded to the question of what he thinks about Joaquin Buckley’s challenge after Buckley expressed his desire to fight Usman following his early victory over Colby Covington.
“I feel like the hot chick in the bar,” said the Nigerian in a recent episode of his podcast with Henry Cejudo. “Everyone wants a piece, but hey, looks like no one’s listening to what I’m saying. No one understands what I’m talking about. I don’t care who my opponent is.”
“Shavkat, Belal, Ian, Buckley, DDM – I don’t care. The only thing I won’t do, because I’ve done it too long and too often, and part of why I need to take a break, is fight when I’m not 100% ready. When I’m healthy, I don’t care who I fight.”
Kamaru Usman hasn’t fought since October of last year, when he stepped in on short notice to face Khamzat Chimaev in the middleweight division and lost by majority decision after three rounds.
Currently, Kamaru Usman and Joaquin Buckley are ranked third and sixth in the UFC welterweight division, respectively.
